Take me out to the Ball game!

On Sunday, despite feeling ill, we headed downtown.
Our baseball team is close to the championship and we
got in on the action. We took the train, as my kids call it,
and they loved the ride.

We did have a great time watching our team win.

The best part was watching my sister and my daughter
Autumn sing the national anthem before the game.
(April is conducting and Autumn is in the front row on the
very right)

Mommy and Ian having a great time. Look how pail I look.
Ugh.

Lorenzo, April (btw they have a date set for the wedding-yeah!)
with Mara. Mara doesn't let Lorenzo get to far from her. She's
always by his side.

Mom and Autumn. I love this pic of the two of them.

Daddy and Ian. My dad is in the yellow next to hubby.

We ate lots of goodies. Ian enjoying hot pretzels with cheese.

Big old hot dogs. Yum!

Even bigger ice cream cones.
Daddy had to finish eating all 3 of these cones-they were huge.

My favorite and apparently Ian's also. Cotton Candy!

Trying to get a family shot. This was the best we could do.
Oh well. It was a great time had by all. The only thing missing
was my other sister Mel and hubby. We ate cotton candy for you
though. :)
Thanks to my wonderful sister for this day. It was so memorable
especially for Autumn. What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

Not me Monday

Now for another round of confessions and not me's.

I did not let my 4 year old watch t.v. all morning while
I talked on the phone catching up with friends.

I did not stay in p.j.'s all day and quickly hurried
and showered before hubby got home so I wouldn't look
like I slacked all day.

I so did not drink after my son thinking that I would not
get his cold and now I am so very ill with this nasty
cold.

I also did not buy white bread-totally unhealthy-turn into
glue in your mouth white bread because it was on sale for
$1. Not me.

Oh the pain.

I really wish I had a great post to write to you all.
However, my head is pounding, it's 3:30 am, my sinuses
are feeling like a vice grip is on them, and my nose
has turned into a leaky faucet. Two of my three children
have been sick with this last week and this and now it's
my turn. I feel HORRIBLE. I can't remember the last time
I've felt this sick. I have to be on a soccer field at
either 8:30 or 9:00 am with one of the girls. They both
have games on seperate fields across town and all I want
to do is pry my head off my body to relieve the pressure.
Since that is not an option I will just lay here and hope
and pray that I get some relief. Now if I could just sleep.

I so did not...

I so did not fold my laundry in the nude because I was looking for clean underwear in the dryer.

I so did not tell my daughter to make her lunch and her sisters lunch for school so I could sleep in a little longer.

I so did not keep telling my family that dinner was not done because I was really in the kitchen reading a book that I couldn't tear my eyes from.

I so did not eat the ice cream all week long that I bought for my children for family night and then go to the store and replace it.

Really, I so did not do any of this.

In my house "not me" is the going to hear it from me someday. However, for today I'm going to join along and say that it wasn't me and that I so did not do these things.
MCK mama has started this on her blog. Head over and see what others are not doing also. She has a great blog, wonderful children, a new baby on the way that could use your prayers.

Soccer

I thought it was time for my Mara to have a post.
Middle child, second daughter, social butterfly,
emotional roller coaster, giggle bug, blankie and
animal lover, light of my life little girl.

Here she is #2. Watching her team play her
favorite game. Soccer has begun and you can
find me on a field Mondays, Thursdays, and
Saturdays.

She has beautiful red hair. Doesn't she?
I know I love it. :)

As much as she loves the game, she really loves to be silly.
She enjoys entertaining others and I've captured her in
some of her greatest moves.

Here she is supposed to be guarding the other player during
practice.

Listening to the coach I see.

Throwing in a little gymnastics to your soccer game.

What in the world are you doing here Mara?

Oh, my. When she's not making me cry she's making me
laugh. Love you sweet pea!!

Golden Day

I love this time of year. Fall will be upon us shortly but
where I live the mornings are cool and crisp and I have
started to make my comfort foods of soups, casseroles,
breads, and desserts. This week my little man and I
cashed in on our second crop of raspberries. We have
a fall crop that is just as lovely as our early summer
one. We have golden ones mixed in with the red
berries that melt in your mouth. Love them!

Ian eats these till his belly is bursting. We ate our
second helping with yogurt. Yum!

Silly boy is always making faces at me. Can't tell if he's
excited for the tasty treat or thinking up a new
scheme.

Enjoying his harvest. His favorites are the golden.

As we sat there and ate he reached over and held my hand.
As big as he is getting, his hand still looks tiny in mine.
Gosh, I could hold his hand all day.
What a beautiful harvest. The raspberries and my son.

Yesterday.

Yesterday I had the most imperfect day. I was rude, not kind, and not patient. My children were the poor benefactors of my mood. The worst about this is that I can't take back yesterday. It was the last day I got to spend with my sister who went back to Mississippi after the most wonderful visit (extended because of the hurricane) and I was in a bad mood. I think a lot of it stemmed from my sadness of her returning to her home so far away from me but really that is a poor excuse. I know I am human and so very flawed. I know that all parents have bad days. I know God has forgiven me but will my children be just as forgiving for my bad parenting yesterday. I hope and pray that they forgive and forget yesterday and that their memories are the sweetness spent with their aunties, uncles, and grandparents.

Proverbs 14:29 "A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man displays folly."

Off they go...

It's been nearly an hour since I walked my children to school.
The girls are entering 1st and 4th grade while my little boy will
be home with me for one more year. Hard to believe how time
is flying. I'm not sure who misses them more. Me or little brother.
I pray this year goes well for them both and that they learn and
grow as uniquely as God made them.
Oh how I want them to stop growing up. Wrap them in a
time warp and capture every memory in a bottle. Since I can't seem
to figure out how to make time stand still I will just have to enjoy
each and every moment. I'm off to snuggle with my little man.
Maybe we can make each other feel a little less lonely without
our girls.
